A Few More Creative Ways to Support the
Jefferson County Habitat ReStore
Your web site says you accept office furniture, but when I tried to donate some chairs, the person I talked to said you couldn't take them.
We'll usually accept anything we can legally sell. It could be that your chairs were more damaged than we can accept, or simply that when you tried to donate them, we had way too many office chairs already. The bottom line is this: if we can sell it quickly to make even a dollar to put toward the current Habitat house, we'll take it! If we know we can't sell it or give it away, thank you so much for understanding, and for keeping it out of our dumpster!
Can we dicker on prices in the ReStore?
Sorry, no. Many people try, so to be fair to all of you, we don't negotiate. But don't go away mad - if items don't sell within a few weeks, we start marking them down, down, down. We also feature a weekly sale - 10%, 50% or even 90% off price stickers of a specific color. The only catch is, if you wait for a sale, somebody may beat you to the purchase! It's all part of the the fun of shopping at the ReStore. And remember - your money's going to a great cause!
Can you call me when you get some bunk beds in?
To be fair to the other 27 people who want us to call when we have bunk beds, we don't call people when we get specific items in. You're welcome to call us repeatedly, though, to see if we have what you're looking for: 812-273-9500. We try to feature new items every week on facebook, too.
Can you pick up my sofa and loveseat today? I've got until 5:00 to get them out of this house!
A lot goes into scheduling our donation pick-ups. We try to group them geographically, and as fast as we can get to them. We prefer to stay in Madison and Hanover because our truck, Ol' Smoky, doesn't get great gas mileage. Please give us a call at least a week before you have to have items out; if it's summer or Christmastime, we may have donation pick-ups scheduled for two weeks or more in advance. We'll do our best -- thanks for your patience!
